Odisha Reports 6,164 New COVID-19 Cases, Seven Deaths

Mumbai: The state Health Department on Thursday reported that 6,164 new COVID-19 cases, 2,009 recoveries and seven deaths have occurred in Odisha in the last 24 hours.

With this, the state has a total of 3,88,479 cases, including 35,075 active cases, 3,51,386 recoveries and 1,965 deaths. Of the new cases, 3,575 were detected from quarantine centers and 2,589 during contact tracing. The state has so far tested 9,7,49,932 samples for COVID-19.

According to the state government data, of the total reported cases, Khurda has the highest number of cases with 1,132, followed by 459 cases in Nuapada, 452 in Kalahandi, 427 in Sundargarh and 355 in Jharsuguda.

Amid increasing cases, a weekend was declared closed for Saturday and Sunday in all urban areas of the state effective from April 24.
