Only Pawar’s Car Was Allowed To Park On Pune Sports Track Over His Leg Issue: Maha Govt

Maharashtra Sports Commissioner Om Prakash Bakoria apologized for the incident and assured that it would not be repeated

Mumbai: After pictures showing ministers’ cars parked on athletes’ track of a Pune sports complex surfaced, Maharashtra Sports Commissioner Om Prakash Bakoria clarified

Sharing several pictures of cars parked on the athletic track on social media, a BJP MLA from Pune, Siddharth Shirole slammed the Maharashtra government for humiliating India’s sportspersons and denting their spirit by using athletes’ race track, especially in wake of the Tokyo Olympics.

After the BJP MLA’s tweet, the Maharashtra Sports Department clarified that only Sharad Pawar’s vehicle is allowed to be parked on the cemented road near the athletic track.

The department said, “On June 26, only 1 vehicle was allowed to use the concrete road near the athletic track for a sports event at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Pune, but some vehicles suddenly reached there, for which we apologize.”

“The Sports Minister has taken cognizance of the incident and instructions have been issued to ensure that vehicles are not allowed on the athletic track,” the statement said.

Maharashtra Sports Commissioner Om Prakash Bakoria apologized for the incident and assured that it would not be repeated.

He also said that only Pawar’s vehicle was allowed to be parked on the cemented road as he had an issue with his leg.

“It was allowed so that he doesn’t face problem in walking. Unfortunately, other vehicles came on track,” he told ANI.
