Sad To See Such Disrespect For Sports: Rijiju On VVIP Cars Parked On Pune Sports Track

Maharashtra BJP MLA from Pune Siddharth Shirole on Sunday posted pictures of cars parked on the track of athletes at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex on Twitter

Mumbai: Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju took to Twitter to react after pictures showing VVIP cars, including that of NCP chief Sharad Pawar, parked on the sports track of Pune’s Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex surfaced online.

Union minister of sports Kiren Rijiju too took to Twitter to express his displeasure over the incident and wrote, “I’m personally very sad to see such disrespect for sports and sporting ethics in our country.”

Shirole said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi government of Maharashtra has hurt the sentiments of the players of our country by parking their cars on the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex sports track.

“Don’t get me wrong.. I love Cricket but imagine the uproar if SUV’s drove and parked over the centre pitch of an International Cricket ground..That is what the MVA Leadership did…disrespected destroyed an International Athletic track and with it the morale of our athletes,” Siddharth Shirole tweeted.

“Not only has the Athletic Track worth crores of rupees at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex #Pune been damaged but the spirit of Sportspersons who bring glory to our nation has been severely dented by the shameful arrogant actions of #MVA leadership,” the BJP MLA wrote.

“At a time when PM Modi is inspiring our sportsperson to bring glory for our country, the tall leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadhi government are doing such shameful acts. I demand an immediate apology from them and an impartial inquiry into the entire incident,” he said.

Reacting to the accusation, the sports department of Maharashtra have apologised and also clarified that only Sharad Pawar’s vehicle was allowed to park near the track on the concrete road so that he doesn’t have to walk.

“The sports minister has taken note of the incident and instructions have been issued to make sure that vehicles are not allowed at the athletic track,” Sports Commissioner of Maharashtra told ANI.
