Over 1,000 Cases In National Capital Are Markaz Cases: Delhi Health Minister

Mumbai: Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Thursday that more than 68 per cent of the positive cases of COVID-19 in the national capital were those involved in the Tablighi Jamaat in Markaz Nizamuddin.

Delhi’s Health Minister told ANI, “In the last 24 hours, only 17 new cases were registered and two deaths occurred, taking the total number of cases to 1,578, of which 1,080 cases (68.4 per cent) are cases of markage.”

Out of 1,578 cases, 867 people have been admitted to hospitals. 29 patients are in intensive care, five patients are currently on ventilators and 32 patients are dead.

Regarding whether the extension of the lockdown would help curb COVID-19 cases in the national capital, he said: “More than 17-18 days have passed three weeks before the national lockdown if the public follows the lockdown. Normally judiciously, we can cover diffusion to a large extent. ”

Jain said that the identified hotspots will continue to be sealed as new cases are expected to come out from these areas. “Hotspots from all areas have been sealed and health workers are also visiting these areas and examining patients with any symptoms. The requirements required by the people will be met,” he said.

On the issue of locating a pizza boy with coronovirus, Jain said that 17 other delivery boys associated with him have been placed under institutional quarantine and 72 have been placed under home quarantine.

Regarding the availability of rapid testing kits, he said that the Delhi government had not yet received any new kits, citing that the centres had not received the kits.
