400 Districts In India COVID-19 Free, Next 2-3 Weeks Very Crucial: Harsh Vardhan

Mumbai: Union Health Minister D.R. Harshvardhan said on Wednesday that about 400 districts in India are free of coronavirus, however, the next 2-3 weeks are the most important in dealing with the COVID-19 epidemic.

“There are about 400 districts in India where coronaviruses have not entered. We can pinpoint where the virus is,” Vardhan said in a video conference here.

“The next 2-3 weeks are going to be the most important to tackle the COVID-19 epidemic, especially in India,” he said.

Harshvardhan further said that India is among the first countries in the world to react to the news of the first Coronavirus case in China on 7 January. Experts in the country have started working on COVID-19 and health advice.

“India is among the first countries in the world to react to the news of the first coronavirus case in China on January 7. We started work on January 8 in our expert group meeting. On January 17, we started receiving health advice,” he said.

India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen to 11,933, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday.

Out of the total tally, 10197 cases are active while 1344 patients have been cured/discharged and migrated and 392 people have succumbed to the virus.
