Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Wrote To S. Jaishankar, Requests For Indo-Pak Dialogue

Mumbai: While congratulating Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar for his appointment as External Affairs Minister, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi allegedly advocated a dialogue between the two neighbours.

Earlier, on June 5, Sohail Mahmood, Pakistan’s foreign secretary and the then High Commissioner visited India on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Fitr.

Mahmood had said that the dialogue between India and Pakistan was the only option so that mutual concerns could be understood and ensure peace, prosperity and security in the region. He said that Pakistan was hoping to “re-engage” with India after the Lok Sabha elections.

He said, “The continuous interaction and structured dialogue will enable both countries to understand mutual concerns and differences, resolve outstanding disputes and create sustainable peace, security and prosperity.”

After the attack on the Air Force base in Pathankot in January 2016, India is not tangled with Pakistan, so it can be said that talks and terror can not go together. The strain was increased after the Pulwama terror attack and on February 26, Indian military aircraft attacked the terrorist training camp in Balakot, Pakistan next day.

Meanwhile, Khan had words with Narendra Modi and expressed his desire to work together for peace and prosperity in the region. Modi has called for creating a confident and violence-free environment for promoting peace and prosperity in his region.
