Petrol And Diesel Prices Reduced Again Across Major Cities

Mumbai: Petrol and diesel rates were cut across major cities in India on Tuesday as international oil prices fell.

According to the price notification of state-owned fuel retailers, the price of petrol was cut by 22 paise per litre and diesel by 23 paise per litre. Petrol is now Rs 90.56 per litre in Delhi and diesel is Rs 80.87 per litre.

Rates have been reduced across the country based on the local incidence of taxation (VAT) and vary from state to state.

In Mumbai, petrol price fell to Rs 96.98 per litre from Rs 97.19 on Tuesday, while diesel rates were reduced from Rs 88.20 to Rs 87.96, the price notification showed.

Fuel prices were reduced for the first time in six months on 24 March, and thereafter on 25 March, as well as the second wave of COVID-19 cases in international oil prices, reducing the likelihood of rapid recovery in consumption happened.

The government had raised petrol by Rs 21.58 per litre despite the rate cut since the hike in excise duty in March last year. Diesel prices were increased by Rs 19.18 per litre.
