Petrol, Diesel Prices Hiked For The 3rd Day In A row

Mumbai: Petrol and diesel prices were hiked for the third straight day on Friday, touching fresh all-time highs across India.

With a hike of 35 paise per litre, the price of petrol in Delhi touched an all-time high of Rs 108.64 per litre. Diesel price also saw an increase of 35 paise and the fuel rate stood at Rs 97.37 per litre in the national capital.

In Mumbai, a litre of petrol is now selling at Rs 114.47 and diesel at Rs 105.49 per litre.

Petrol in Chennai is Rs 105.43 and diesel Rs 101.59 per litre, while in Kolkata petrol is Rs 109.12 and diesel Rs 100.49 per litre.

Petrol and diesel prices vary from state to state based on the incidence of Value Added Tax.

Crude prices have been on a surge rising over three years high level of over $ 86 a barrel now as global demand remains firm while OPEC+ continues to move slowly on increasing production. Since September 5, when both petrol and diesel prices were revised, the price of petrol and diesel in the international market is higher by around $9-10 per barrel as compared to average prices during August.
