PM Modi Is The Only Leader After Mahatma Gandhi With A Deep Understanding Of Indian Society: Rajnath Singh

Singh said that PM has paid a lot of attention to those issues which are not related to votes

Mumbai: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday talked about the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that after Mahatma Gandhi, PM Modi is the only leader with a deep understanding of Indian society and its psychology.

Calling crisis of credibility, the biggest challenge before politics and politicians in independent India, Singh said that PM Modi overcame it.

“You might have felt that in independent India, the biggest challenge before politics and politicians has been a crisis of credibility. Due to the difference between words and deeds of politicians, people’s trust in them lessened gradually,” he said.

The minister added that this understanding is based on his extensive personal experience.

Singh also highlighted other qualities of the Indian PM and said that he has paid a lot of attention to those issues which are not related to votes, giving examples of promotion of yoga, cleanliness campaign and health care.

Responding to the successful test of the Agni-V missile, he said that this is not to scare anyone.

“Only a powerful country is respected by a strong country. We believe in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” he added.

He further said that PM Modi has redesigned and redefined India’s attitude against terrorism and said that the previous governments maintained a soft approach towards terrorist incidents and gave them “safe passage”.

The Defence Minister said that the BJP government ensured that swift action will be taken even across the border if needed, indirectly referring to the surgical strikes.

Rajnath Singh also raised the issue of abrogation of Article 370 saying, “Many people said that it would be impossible to remove it and even feared that Kashmir would burn if it was abrogated, however, the Modi government proved everyone wrong.”

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister on Friday arrived in Rome, Italy to attend the crucial 16th G20 Summit that will take place over on 30th – 31st October.
