PM Modi Renamed 3 Islands During The Trip To Andaman & Nicobar

Mumbai : In a recent development Prime Minister Narendra Modi has renamed all three islands in Andamans & Nicobar, Ross Island, Neil Island and Havelock Island will now be called Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island, Shahid Dave Island and Swaraj Islands.

Prime Minister also hosted the National Flag of 150 ft in Port Blair on the occasion of 75th anniversary of the announcement of freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose in connection with the formation of Azad Hind Government.

Talking to people in Car Nicobar, he said “Apart from security, the government is working to ensure that Car Nicobar development, education for children, job opportunities for youth, medical facilities for the elderly and irrigation facilities for farmers.”

The Modi government is also focusing on increasing the quality of infrastructure in and around the islands and tackling the problems caused by marine caries – any damage to the coastal areas due to the removal of sediment from coastline.

PM Modi said, “I am happy to announce that the government has decided to make a face to deal with this problem, whose foundation will be laid today.”

A amount of Rs 7,000 crore has been sanctioned by the government for the welfare of fisherman across the country, Modi added.

“Happy to announce important decisions relating to agriculture and fisheries. These will help protect local culture of the Andaman and Nicobar islands as well as increase livelihood opportunities,” he said.

The PM also released a commemorative stamp, its first-day cover and a Rs-75 coin on this special day. He also paid floral tribute at Netaji’s statue in the park.
