PM Modi Speaks To Zelenskyy About Evolving Situation In Ukraine For 35 Minutes: Reports

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the evolving situation in Ukraine in a phone call that lasted for about 35 minutes, ANI reported.

In a phone call that lasted for about 35 minutes, PM Modi thanked President Zelensky for the help extended by the government of Ukraine in evacuating Indian nationals from Ukraine. “PM Modi appreciated the continuing direct dialogue between Russia and Ukraine,” sources added.

PM Modi will also talk to Russian President Vladimir Putin today. Since the start of the conflict on 24 February when Russia launched a special military operation on Ukraine, the prime minister has spoken to the two leaders twice.

On 26 February, Prime Minister Modi spoke to President of Ukraine Zelensky, later elaborating on the current conflict situation to the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, tensions have risen in Ukraine following Russian military action and the government has arranged flights from neighbouring Ukraine to evacuate Indian students as part of ‘Operation Ganga’.

On Sunday, the Indian government said it has evacuated around 16,000 Indian students from Ukraine’s neighbouring countries since February 22.
