PM Narendra Modi Expresses Grief Over Kannauj Bus Fire Incident Which Killed 20 People

Mumbai: PM Narendra Modi expressed deep condolences over last evening’s Kannauj bus fire incident, in which 20 people have lost their lives.

Prime Minister wrote on Twitter, “I am deeply saddened to know about the horrific road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj. Several people have lost their lives in the accident. I express my condolences to the bereaved families and wish a speedy recovery to the injured persons.”

The private double-decker bus, which was en route to Jaipur, caught fire after hitting a truck. Around 50 people were boarding the bus at the time of the incident on GT Road of Delhi-Kanpur highway.

A total of 21 passengers were also injured in the accident. All of these are reported to be out of danger. Three to four firearm vehicles, which were pressed into service after the accident, took about 30–40 minutes to extinguish the fire in both vehicles.

Expressing grief over the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced to give Rs 2 lakh each to the families of those who died in the accident as well as Rs 50,000 each to the injured.
