Prakash Javadekar Slams Shiv Sena-led MVA For ‘Poor Administration’ Of Vaccine

Mumbai: A day after Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope requested a dose of 2.20 crore COVID-19 vaccine from the Centre for the ongoing vaccination campaign in the state, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar accused the Shiv Sena-led MVA government of poor immunization administration.

Javadekar said that out of the total 54 lakh vaccines sent to the state by the central government, only 23 lakh vaccines were used, as of 12 March. He further stated that 56 per cent of the vaccines remained unused.

“Maharashtra Government had only used 23 lakh vaccines out of the total 54 lakh vaccines sent to the state, till 12th March. 56% of vaccines remained unused. Now, Shiv Sena MP asks for more vaccines for the state. First mismanagement of pandemic now poor administration of vaccines,” said the Union Minister in his tweet.

Maharashtra has been the most affected by coronavirus infection in the country.

According to the Union Health Ministry, Maharashtra, Kerala and Punjab account for 76.4 per cent of the total active cases, with Maharashtra accounting for about 60 per cent.

A central delegation visited Maharashtra between March 7 and 11 and also discussed the COVID-19 situation with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
