Pregnant Woman Kidnapped From Station In Front Of Family; Gangraped By 3 In Andhra

Mumbai: A pregnant woman, waiting with her husband and three children at a railway station, was abducted by two men and a minor, and allegedly gang-raped near the station in Andhra Pradesh’s Bapatla district.

Bapatla district superintendent of police Vakul Jindal said on Sunday that the three accused have been arrested.

The couple, hailing from the Prakasam district, reached Repalle railway station by train from Guntur on their way to Nagayalanka in the neighbouring Krishna district at around 11.30 am on Saturday. While they were sleeping on the platform, all three were in a state of intoxication, they woke up the husband and asked him what time it was.

As he did not have a watch, the husband did not reply.

After this, the attackers beat him up and snatched Rs 750 cash from him. After this, he also hit the woman and raped her.

The man ran out of the police station and went to the local police station for help. Jindal said the attackers fled as soon as the police reached the railway station.

The victim was immediately taken to a community health centre for treatment. An investigator took the police to a nearby spot where one of the attackers had changed his shirt.

“Based on the sources, we conducted further investigation and traced the attackers to an area in Repalle, where they were arrested this afternoon,” the SP said.

Jindal said the child, who violated the law, was earlier accused in three cases of theft.

Sources said the Government Railway Police (GRP) posted at Repalle did not respond when the victim’s husband first approached her, forcing her to run out of the station to seek help from the city police.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Commission for Women Chairperson V Padma expressed grief over the incident and sought a detailed report on it.
