“The committee shall submit its report within three days,” the spokesperson said.

The petition was filed by senior advocate Maninder Singh, who sought a probe into the security breach. The court has asked Singh to give a copy of the petition to the Central and Punjab governments today.

Yesterday, PM Modi was stuck on a flyover in Punjab for 15-20 minutes as some protesters blocked the road. The PM had earlier arrived at Bathinda airport from Delhi and was on his way to the National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala for an event.

The PM was originally scheduled to visit the memorial in a helicopter, but bad weather forced a change in plan and the convoy hit the road. However, after the security breach, the PM returned to Bathinda and then to Delhi without attending the event at the memorial.

The PM could not even attend a rally in Ferozepur, where he was to lay the foundation stone of several projects.

“The prime minister wanted to meet you all, but because of some reasons, he is not going to be with us today. The PM has said that these programmes have been postponed and not cancelled,” Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said at the Ferozepur public meeting.

Reacting to the incident, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs asked the Punjab government to fix responsibility for the incident and take strict action.
