Punjab Polls: Winning Both Seats With Good Margin, Says Punjab CM Channi

Mumbai: Hours after polling for the assembly elections in Punjab concluded, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Sunday said he was confident of victory in both the seats Congress leaders are contesting with a good margin.

Taking a jibe at AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, the Punjab Chief Minister said he is a liar who backs down on his statements and often apologizes to the people.

“I’m winning with a good margin from both the regions I’m contesting from… Arvind Kejriwal (AAP national convenor) is a lying man, he speaks big lies and either flips on his statements or sometimes apologises,” Punjab CM Channi told ANI.

Expressing confidence over the party’s victory in the state elections, CM Channi had said earlier in the day that the Congress would form the government in Punjab with a two-thirds majority.

Adding, “People are supporting Congress in large numbers. There is overwhelming support for the party among voters.”

The single-phase polling was held in all 117 Legislative Assembly in Punjab on Sunday. The state witnessed over 68 per cent of voter turnout. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
