Rahul Gandhi Requested Supreme Court To Dismiss Petition Filed Against Him

Mumbai: Congress President Rahul Gandhi has asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the contempt petition filed by BJP MLA from the Supreme Court.

The Congress chief allegedly told the court that the petition was a field for misuse of the judicial process by filing a contempt petition against him and writing it for misuse of the judicial process.

An affidavit was filed by Congress president Rahul Gandhi which explained how he attributed his ‘chowkidar chor hai’ jibe to the apex court while discussing its April 10 ruling over the use of leaked Ministry of Defence documents for the Rafale review petition.

The latest affidavit is the answer to the notice of the top court, which Rahul’s lawyer told that the judges had not issued “notice to his client” but only sought an explanation. On this, CJI Gogoi issued a notice that “that defect should be corrected”.

The court had tagged the contempt petition with the main review petition and on Tuesday decided to hear the case.

The Center wants that the hearing on the main review petition should be avoided as it requires more time to file a new affidavit.
