Rahul, Rashid Allegedly Approached By Lucknow Franchise, Complaint Lodged By PBKS, SRH

In a verbal complaint, the 2 franchises said that the players were approached by newly added Lucknow franchise

Mumbai: Ahead of the mega auctions for IPL 2022, reports have come out that KL Rahul of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rashid Khan of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been approached to quit their respective franchises.

In a verbal complaint, the 2 franchises said that the players were approached by the newly added Lucknow franchise, said a BCCI official. 2 new teams Lucknow and Ahmedabad have been added to the tournament for the next edition.

The official also added that proper action will be taken if this is found to be true.

“We haven’t received any letter but we have received a verbal complaint from two franchises about players poaching by Lucknow team. We are looking into it, and we will take appropriate action if it proves to be true,” said a BCCI official according to Inside Sport.

The BCCI official also said that the existing balance of the teams should not be disturbed, adding that it is difficult to avoid these kinds of approaches especially when there is fierce competition.

“We don’t want to disturb the balance. You cannot avoid such things when there is fierce competition. But it’s not fair to the existing teams when they are trying to balance everything,” concluded the BCCI official.

KL Rahul and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) are reportedly in talks about the right-handed batter quitting the franchise and moving on. Meanwhile, Rashid Khan had already informed SRH that he wants to be the first player to be retained by the franchise, or else he might leave.

The deadline for all the 8 franchises to give the list of players that they would like to remain ahead of the mega auctions is 30th November 2021.
