Railways To Produce 1,30,000 Medical Protective Coveralls to fight COVID-19

Mumbai: In a recent development, the Indian Railways have decided to build more than 30,000 personal protective equipment covers in April, as well as plans to build another 100,000 in May 2020 for medical and health care personnel, directly to COVID – Working among infected patients for 19 exposure to disease.

“Railways have been able to procure and distribute enough raw materials for their workshops and other units to manufacture more than 30,000 PPEalls in April. Railways in May targeted to manufacture 1,00,000 PPE covers and sourcing of appropriate raw materials. The material has been commissioned, “the Ministry of Railways said in a statement.

Railways have recently started manufacturing PPE covers laces. The prototype coveralls with the highest grades have already been approved for pre-determined tests at the DRDO’s authorized Defense Research Development Laboratory in Gwalior.

Railways have converted more than 5,000 of its passenger coaches into mobile quarantine or isolation facilities to deal with COVID-19 patients.

According to the Union Ministry of Health, a total of 11,439 people have diagnosed positive for coronovirus, including 1306 cures and discharges and 377 deaths. Currently, there are 9,756 active corona cases in the country.
