Mumbai: According to the Union Health Ministry, on Friday, India reported the highest single-day spike in COVID-19cases, with more than 2.17 lakh new cases in the last 24 hours, with more than 1,185 deaths in the last 17 hours taking the death toll to 1,74,308. Out of the total cases, 15,69,743 cases are active.

With this, the total number of cases has increased to 1,42,91,917. The active number of cases is 15,69,743. In the last 24 hours, 1,18,302 people have recovered from the disease. With this, the total recovery reached 1,25,47,866.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 14,73,210 samples were tested on Thursday. And, as of 15 April, 26,34,76,625 samples have been tested across the country.

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country stands at 11,72,23,509 till today.
