RuPay Payment Mechanism Will Ease Travel Of Indian To The Maldives,’ Says PM Modi

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih jointly inaugurated four key development projects covering a wide range of sectors through video conferencing this evening.

He said that Indian tourist figures in the Maldives have more than doubled as India has moved from 5th to 2nd position now. He also highlighted the close relationship between the two nations and one of the key aspects of close relations between the two countries is people-to-people contact.

The mechanism of initiating the process to roll out of RuPay card in the Maldives will further ease the travel of Indian to the Maldives.

“RuPay Payment mechanism will further ease the travel of Indian to the Maldives. I’m glad that this has been launched through the Bank of Maldives. Today we dedicated LED street lighting to the people of Male. India is very happy to bring to them the benefits of these environment-friendly lights,” he added.

President of Maldives said, both India and the Maldives are connected by vast Indian ocean and safety and security of the ocean have brought both countries closer.
