Mumbai: Section 144 (which prohibits the assembly of more than four people) has been imposed by the authorities in Ayodhya, in the wake of the Supreme Court verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will resume its hearing after a long leave, well told that the court will make a final decision in the case. It is also stated that the proceedings are expected to end on October 17, therefore, to avoid any untoward incident, the administration has imposed Section 144 in the temple city by December 10.

Giving information on micro-blogging site Twitter, Ayodhya District Magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha said, “Section 144 has been imposed, considering the safety and security of the people going to Ayodhya as the paramount concern of the government. It will remain in force till 10 December. ”

He insisted, “I should add that there is already another order from 31 August covering aspects of unlawful and undesirable activities. Issued on 12.10.2019 [Saturday] to cover certain points. Which were not in the earlier order.”

A five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, which started the day-to-day proceedings on August 6 after mediation proceedings failed to find an amicable solution to the vexatious dispute, has revised the deadline for wrapping up the proceedings and has fixed it on October 17.
