Pressing Lotus Button Will Mean Dropping Bomb On Pak: Maurya

Mumbai: Voting in favour of the BJP will mean “dropping of a nuclear bomb on Pakistan, says Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya during his election campaign.

He said that the upcoming Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly elections are important because it will be the first election in the country after the repeal of Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

He was addressing a public meeting in support of BJP candidate Narendra Mehta from Mira Bhayander constituency in Thane district of Maharashtra on Sunday night.

Maurya said, “By pressing the lotus button (BJP’s election symbol), only Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Narendra Mehta will not only benefit, but it will mean that the atomic bomb will be dropped on Pakistan.”

The BJP leader said that the whole world would closely watch the upcoming assembly elections in these two states as it would indicate the genuine patriotism of Indians.

He said, “This will be the first election to be held in the country after the violation of Article 370. Hence the results of these elections will reveal the ‘patriotism’ (patriotism) of the people.”

Therefore, every voter is required to exercise their franchise to make the “right choice”.

Maurya said, “The vote you cast will not be for Narendra Mehta alone but under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Fadnavis.”

Targeting the opposition, he said, “Goddess Lakshmi does not sit on a hand, bicycle or a watch (in clear reference to the election symbols of Congress, Samajwadi Party and NCP respectively), but she sits on a lotus, which symbolizes development. ”

He said that the leaders of the opposition Congress and NCP were distressed when Defense Minister Rajnath Singh performed ‘Shastri Puja’ on the Rafale fighter jet, decorated it with ‘Om’ and placed lemon under the wheels of the aircraft.

Polling in both Maharashtra and Haryana will be held on October 21 and counting of votes will take place on October 24.
