Mumbai: A video shared on Feb 17 shows a Sikh man allegedly threatening PM Modi. The identity of the speaker is unconfirmed. This comes amid the ‘Delhi Chalo’ March by farmers. Resonates with Indira Gandhi’s assassination. Talks between farmers’ unions and govt ongoing.

The video, which has garnered over 600,000 views and 15,000 likes, shows the individual expressing the belief that PM Modi may be killed within the next few years.

The veracity of the video and the speaker’s identification remain unverified. The person, who appears to be Sikh in appearance, is shown firmly addressing a local reporter and threatening PM Modi. The video has become public during the ongoing ‘Delhi Chalo’ March, which is being coordinated nationwide by farmers’ unions.

Unverified as it may be, the threat brings to mind the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards as payback for Operation Blue Star. Gandhi ordered this military action, which resulted in heavy losses and deep-seated hatred among Sikhs, to remove Sikh militants from the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
