“Situation Between Both Countries Are Dangerous,” US President Donald Trump Proposes Mediation Again

Mumbai: US President Donald Trump again offered to become mediator over Kashmir issue saying that he “will do the best I can, (to help) to meditate or do something”.

Trump said that he would bring up the Kashmir issue when he meets PM Modi at the G7 Summit later this week

“I will be with Prime Minister Modi I’ll be with him over the weekend in France. I think we are helping (resolve the tense) situation (between India and Pakistan),” Trump told reporters.

Well, India has been repeatedly saying that the Kashmir issue is an internal matter of the country still US president propose mediation between India and Pakistan.

The president also spoke about the phone conversations Monday with Prime Ministers Modi and Imran Khan.

“Spoke to my two good friends, Prime Minister Modi of India, and Prime Minister Khan of Pakistan, regarding Trade, Strategic Partnerships and, most importantly, for India and Pakistan to work towards reducing tensions in Kashmir,” Trump wrote on Twitter, referring to phone calls with Modi and Khan. “A tough situation, but good conversations!”

 

Addressing the media, Trump also said that there are “tremendous problems” between the two countries and thus wished to do the best to ease tensions.

“I will do the best I can to meditate or do something. (I have) a great relationship with both of them, but they (India and Pakistan) are not exactly friends at this moment,” Trump said.

This comes even as Imran Khan continues with his efforts to internationalize the matter, while India maintains that Kashmir is a bilateral issue with no scope for third party arbitration.

Trump said the tense situation also has a lot to do with religion.

“It’s a complicated situation. A lot has to do with religion. Religion is a complicated subject,” he said.

Trump said that talks have been going on in the subcontinent “by different names, even (by the hundreds) over the years,” he answered a question on Kashmir, which he said is a very complex place.

He said, “You have Hindus. And you have Muslims. I wouldn’t say they are so great. That’s what you have.”
