Some People Support Taliban, Then Talk About Women Welfare: UP CM

Mumbai: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday criticized “some people” for “shamelessly supporting” the Taliban and called on them to expose “brutalities against women and children”.

Speaking on the third day of the monsoon session of the state assembly, the chief minister said, “Some people are supporting Taliban. What cruelty is happening to women and children there? But some people are shamelessly supporting the Taliban. All faces should be exposed.”

The comments of the Chief Minister came a day after Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq and two others were booked for “freedom struggle” comment on the Taliban’s takeover.

Earlier on Tuesday, Barack had backed the transition in Afghanistan, saying the Taliban are fighting for their country’s independence and the Afghan people want freedom under its leadership. The charges against the Samajwadi Party MP include sections 124A (sedition), 153A (promoting enmity between groups) and 295A (hurting religious feelings) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Meanwhile, speaking further in the assembly, Yogi said that the per capita income of the state has doubled in the last four years.

“In 2017 the government presented its budget. There is a spirit of development for all and trust for all in PM Narendra Modi. This is our culture, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay ji also expected the same from society. Our government has started schemes for all without any discrimination.”

“The budget has expanded in the last few years. A small budget was a sign of a small mindset among the population of 24 crores, but the per capita income of the state has doubled in the last four years,” he added.

“We ensured the availability of employment, the youth of the state got the job of their choice, we made all these efforts and today the result is in front of everyone. In Panchayat elections, 46 per cent of women leaders were elected and 56 per cent of women leaders were elected. Block presidential elections in women,” he said.

As soon as the monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly began on Tuesday, Congress leaders marched from the Gandhi statue to the state assembly on the issue of inflation, death of Covid-19 and women’s safety on the second day of the monsoon session.
