Sri Lanka Blamed Muslim Terror Organisation That Rooted Death Of 290

Mumbai: The government of Sri Lanka blamed a Muslim terror outfit- Thowheed Jamath in a dreadful serial bombing that rooted out the death of around 290 people and injured around 500 in the country on Easter Sunday.

The government said that the attacks were “massive intelligence failure.”

The National Thowheed Jamath (NTJ) carried out 8 explosions across the cities in Srilanka.

“NTJ is involved in the attacks. It is a local organisation and we don’t whether outsiders are also involved. All those who are detained are locals,” Sri Lanka Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne.

Senaratne along with other ministers said that attacks as “Colossal intelligence failure.”

The minister said that on 4th April, an International Intelligence agency- for which he did not disclose the name, had warned about these attacks and specifically mentioned that Churches and tourist places will be the centre point.

He further said that on April 9 inspector general was informed about this along with names of conjecture terrorists were given to him.

He said that meeting was wanted by security council on Sunday but it did not happen as he was out of the country.

He said, “We apologize being a government to all the kin and other organizations. The problem is that also the Prime Minister was in the dark when we met him in the cabinet meeting.”

Two Srilanka ministers Mano Ganesan and Harin Fernando said tweeting that the government has prior information about the attacks.

Mano Ganesan tweeted, “A week before, my Ministerial Security Division (MSD) officers had been warned by their Division on two suspected suicide bombers in Colombo targeting politicians.”

Harin Fernando said tweeting, “Some intelligence officers were aware of this incidence. Therefore there was a delay in action. What my father heard was also from an intelligence officer. Serious action needs to be taken as to why this warning was ignored. I was in Badulla last night.”

On the resignation of the inspector, general Senate said, “We will take every step to eradicate terrorism from our country. President, Prime Minister and the state defence minister met for the first time today (Monday) in the morning. We need to merge leadership to overcome this situation.”

Srilanka recently has been affected by the conflict between the Prime Minister and President.
