Tablighi Jamaat Patients Making Vulgar Signs, Roaming Without Pants: Ghaziabad CMO

Mumbai: On Thursday (April 2), the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of MMG District Hospital in Ghaziabad informed the local police that followers of Tablighi Jamaat were indulging in indecent acts in quarantine and roaming naked inside the hospital.

An FIR has been lodged against six people at the Kotwali Ghantaghar police station. The complaint states that Nizamuddin Markaz’s hostess is abusing the hospital staff in addition to making lewd gestures to the nurses. The CMO further said that members of the Jamaat are also demanding cigarettes and bidis from doctors and staff nurses.

Police, however, said that strict legal action would be taken against those involved in such activities.

SP City of Ghaziabad said a complaint was received from the CMO that MMG hospital nurses alleged that six coronavirus patients were admitted to the isolation ward of the hospital and were abusing them. “We are at the scene to investigate the matter,” the SP told ANI.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Police Crime Branch sent a notice to seven people including Maulana Muhammad Saad of Tablighi Jamaat on why the lockdown rules were not followed. The names of all these seven people are in the FIR and they are now in quarantine.

Meanwhile, 960 foreigners have been blacklisted and their tourist visas cancelled in connection with organizing the Tablighi Jamaat.

“In the case of Tablighi Jamaat, Nizamuddin, the MHA has directed the Delhi Police and the DGP of other concerned states to take necessary legal action against 960 foreigners for violating the provisions of the Foreigners Act, 1946 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005,” office of the home minister said.

It further said, “In the case of Tablighi Jamaat, Nizamuddin, 960 foreigners have been blacklisted and their tourist visas cancelled after being found involved in activities related to Tablighi Jamaat.”

The holding of the Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi has become a centre of attraction for COVID-19 as many positive cases across India were associated with this gathering, including deaths in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana.
