Western Railway To Convert 410 Coaches For Isolation Of Suspected COVID-19 Patients

Mumbai: Western Railway on Friday said it would convert about 410 train coaches to facilitate the isolation of suspected coronavirus patients in all its six divisions, including Mumbai division.

“One coach has been converted for isolation of COVID-19 patients possibly infected by Bhavnagar Workshop of Western Railway. 410 coaches will be converted by Western Railway to all its 6 divisions including Mumbai Division,” the officials said.

To prevent the spread of coronavirus, the Indian Railways is making all efforts to supplement the health care efforts of the Central Government.

Railways have modified passenger coaches as separate coaches and hospital beds to cater to the needs of COVID-19 to equip existing railway hospitals, meet contingencies, additional doctors and other treatments. Has recruited paramedics between.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has started converting coaches into isolation wards at coach maintenance depots in Kamakhya and Guwahati after consulting medical professionals at its NF Railway Central Hospital, Maligaon.

This comes as the lockout is being done to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country, according to which the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has claimed the lives of 56 people and has infected a total of 2,301 people so far.
