Tamil Nadu Announces Complete Lockdown For Two Weeks Starting May 10

Mumbai: Tamil Nadu government has announced a complete lockdown for two weeks on Saturday, starting from May 10 till May 24. To control the spread of COVID19 in the state.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin said in a statement that the lockdown was being enforced due to ‘unavoidable reasons.

“The total lockdown will be enforced from 4 am on May 10 to 4 am on May 24,” he said.

He has pointed out that the decision was taken based on inputs received at a review meeting he had with district collectors on Friday, besides consultations with medical experts.

Several states have imposed partial lockdowns or night curfew besides putting in place several other preventive measures as the country is battling with the second wave of infections.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has recorded 26,465 new COVID19 cases, the biggest single-day spike. Tamil Nadu has currently over 1 lakh active COVID-19 cases and has logged 1,272,602 infections till now.
