The Samjhauta Express Won’t Cooperate: Pakistan Railway Minister Sheikh Rasheed

Mumbai: On Thursday in a press conference the railway minister of Pakistan, Sheikh Rasheed said that the Samjhauta Express won’t cooperate. Pakistan’s move is considered as a curt reply to India’s Abrogation of article 370.

The Samjhauta express which was named after a Hindi word Samjhauta which means an ‘agreement’ was suspended at the Wagah border and the Pakistani crew refused to enter Indian territories because they didn’t feel safe.

The CPRO Northern Railways said that the Indian officials have told the Pakistani crew that “the situation this side was perfectly normal” and yet they refused to come. In return, the crew asked the Indian government to Indian crew and engine to fetch the passengers on the other side. The train is reported to carry almost 110 passengers.

It is considered that the train will not enter India any time soon. In the conference, Mr Rasheed had also said, “As long as I’m the railway minister of Pakistan the Samjhauta express will not cooperate,” the Indian government hence will have to either send engines to the border or suspend the railway service or make a samjhauta for the Samjhauta express.
