Three Of 10 Former Congress MLAs In Goa Cabinet Were Inducted As Ministers

Mumbai: Three of the 10 former MLAs of Goa Congress, who joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) two days ago, took oath as cabinet minister on Saturday.

The Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Michael Lobo, was also included in the Goa Assembly as a cabinet minister at 3 PM.

On Friday, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had announced that he would replace the four ministers and include new members in his cabinet.

On Wednesday, ten of the 15 Congress MLAs in Goa under the leadership of opposition leader Chandrakant Kawalakar left the party and merged with the BJP to bring the power of the ruling party to 27 seats on the floor.

In the reshuffle, coalition allies, three MLAs of the Goa Forward Party, and an Independent MLA Rohan Khanty will be excluded from the Cabinet. Ministers of Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai, Vinod Paliankar and Jayesh Salgaocarkar were asked to quit.
