TN Announces New COVID-19 Curbs From Apr 26; Salons, Theatres To Be Shut

Mumbai: The Tamil Nadu government has announced new lockdown guidelines in view of the dissemination of the coronation in the state. The new restrictions will be imposed on April 26 from 4 am.

According to the new order, the beauty parlour, salon, spa and barbershop will remain closed. Pillows will only be allowed in hotels, restaurants and tea shops.

All places of worship will also be closed for the public from April 26.

In its new order, the Tamil Nadu government has a limited attendance for marriage ceremonies to a maximum of 50 people. In addition to this, 25 people have been allowed to perform the last rites.

Except for Puducherry, all other state passengers and travellers will have to apply for e-pass through the government portal. They will be allowed inside the state only if approved.

Here are the restrictions imposed by the Tamil Nadu government: 

  • Shopping malls, large format stores to be shut. Departmental stores allowed with 50 per cent capacity.
  • Theatres, recreational clubs, gyms, meeting halls, auditoriums and bars to remain closed.
  • Salons, spas, parlours, and barbershops to be shut.
  • Only takeaway services allowed in hotels, restaurants, mess, tea shops, etc. Dine-in facilities will be strictly prohibited.
  • E-commerce allowed with time restrictions.
  • Religious places to remain closed.
  • Attendees in funerals capped at 25 people and for marriages, the upper limit is 50.
  • Minimum 50 per cent of employees at IT firms directed to work from home.
  • Sports training academies will be shut. The training allowed only for international and national sporting events.
  • No standees in public transport.
  • Maximum 3 passengers allowed in taxis and two in autos.
  • Except for Puducherry, all other state passengers and travellers need to apply for E-Pass.

The Tamil Nadu government further said that the night curfew and other pre-announced restrictions will continue to be in force. Sunday and night curfews are closed daily from 10 pm to 4 am in the state.

According to the Health Department, the ban continued in Tamil Nadu on Friday and a sharp increase in new Kovid-19 cases with 13,776 infections took a caseload of 10,51,487, while the death rate was 13,395.

The State reported 95,048 active cases while recoveries mounted to 9,43,044 with 8,078 patients being discharged.
