Tushar Mehta Is The New Solicitor General Of India

Mumbai : In a recent development Senior Advocate Tushar Mehta has been appointed as a Solicitor General of India. He is the second highest ranking law officer.

The order has been issued by the Personnel Ministry which says “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Mehta, senior advocate, as the Solicitor General of India with effect from the date of assumption of charge of office for a period till 30.06.2020,”

The post fell vacant in October last year after Ranjit Kumar resigned from his post.  Mehta is at present Additional Solicitor General. Attorney General of India is the top most law officer of the country.
