Two Women Tablighi Jamaat Attendees Test Positive For COVID-19 In Punjab

Mumbai: Two women who returned from the Tablighi Jamaat program in Delhi tested positive for COVID-19 here in Mansa ANI reported.

Both are native to Chhattisgarh and were already admitted to civil hospital as a precautionary measure.

ANI quoted Punjab Special Chief Secretary KBS Sidhu saying, “Two women who returned from the Tablighi Jamaat event have tested positive. They were already under isolation at the civil hospital as a precautionary measure. They belong to Chhattisgarh.”

He further stated that the remaining 20 samples from his contacts tested negative.

The Tablighi Jamaat’s hold in Delhi has become the centre of attraction for COVID-19, as many positive cases from across India were linked to deaths in Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana.

According to the latest bulletin of the Ministry of Health, in Punjab, 76 people have tested positive for COVID-19, including 4 treated and discharged and 6 deaths.
