‘Unite Against BJP’: Mamata Banerjee In Letter To Sonia Gandhi, Others

Mumbai: Mamata Banerjee wrote to several leaders of opposition parties, including Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, saying that the time has come for a united struggle against BJP’s attacks on democracy.

“I firmly believe that the time has come for a united and effective struggle against the BJP’s attacks on democracy and the Constitution. As the President of the All India Trinamool Congress, I will work with you and all other like-minded political parties in this fight in all honesty. We can win this battle only with unity of hearts and minds, and by presenting a credible alternative to the people of India,” she said in a letter to the leaders of non-BJP parties,” she said in a letter to the leaders of non-BJP parties.

The letter was also addressed by DMK chief MK Stalin, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The Centre-State relations and also relations between the ruling party at the Centre and Opposition parties have never been as bad in the history of independent India as it is now, and the blame lies with the authoritarian conduct of the Prime Minister,” she added.

She also alleged that the BJP was making it impossible for non-BJP parties to exercise their constitutional rights and independence and to establish a one-party, authoritarian rule in India.

The TMC chief also alleged that the BJP wants to dilute the powers of state governments and downgrade them to mere municipalities.
