Uttar Pradesh P Hikes Petrol Price By Rs 2/L, Diesel By Rs 1/L

Mumbai: Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday approved the hike in petrol and diesel prices.

“The UP government has increased the price of petrol by Rs 2 per litre and diesel by Rs 1 per litre,” Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna told reporters after the state cabinet meeting here.

He said, “The price of petrol will now be Rs 73.91 per litre in UP, while diesel will be available at Rs 63.86 per litre. Hike prices will be applicable from midnight today.”

The move follows the Center’s decision on Tuesday to increase excise duty on petrol by Rs 10 per litre and diesel by Rs 13 per litre. However, the increase did not raise fuel prices, as global oil prices have fallen to nearly two-decade lows.

A record increase in excise duty on petrol and diesel will add about Rs 1.6 lakh crore in additional government income this fiscal.
