Combating COVID-19: Over 95000 Cases, 18000 Arrests In Maharashtra For Violations Till Date

Mumbai: More than 95,000 offences have been registered and more than 18000 people arrested under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in Maharashtra since March 22 for violating the lockdown norms for coronovirus outbreak.

The Maharashtra Home Ministry said in a press release, “95,678 offences have been registered under section 188 of the IPC. (Disobeying a lawful order by public servant) since the arrest of 18,722 and confiscation of assets of 53071 crores.”

More than Rs 3 crore has been recovered as penalty from the culprits.

More than 2 lakh people have been released and 642 have been found in violation of a quarantine.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 calls on the police helpline 100 has steadily increased. 84,945 such calls have been received.

There have been more than 15,000 cases of coronovirus in the country.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday morning, the number of COVID-19 cases in the country reached 49,391 with 1694 deaths.
