Will Learn From This: Rahul As Trends Show Cong’s Defeat In 5 States

Mumbai: With the current trends of assembly election results showing that the Congress is performing poorly in five states – Manipur, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Punjab, party leader Rahul Gandhi said on Thursday that he accepts the verdict of the people and will learn from this.

“Humbly accept the people’s verdict. Best wishes to those who have won the mandate. My gratitude to all Congress workers and volunteers for their hard work and dedication. We will learn from this and keep working for the interests of the people of India,” Gandhi tweeted.

Of the five states where assembly elections were held, only Punjab had a Congress government. The Congress, which is battling with factionalism and anti-incumbency wave in the state, entered the elections.

The election results came as another blow to the Congress, which could not retain Punjab or come to power in Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, where it was the BJP’s main rival.
