Will Retain Power In Uttar Pradesh As SP Cannot Stop BJP’s Lotus From Blooming In The State: Deputy Chief Minister

Mumbai: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Tuesday hit out at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, saying his party and his allies cannot stop the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from returning to power in the upcoming assembly elections in the state.

“SP has not been able to stop BJP’s lotus from blooming in the state. The list of candidates released by SP for the upcoming elections shows that it is not a political party but a party of gangsters, criminals, mafia. They are not fighting polls in UP but threatening the people of the state. I wish to tell him that however many criminals you give tickets to, your cycle was punctured and will remain punctured,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.

Expressing confidence that the BJP is returning to power in Uttar Pradesh, Maurya said the party will win over 300 seats and the SP will face more defeats in 2022 than in the previous assembly elections.

Highlighting the work of BJP in Uttar Pradesh in the last five years, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “The double engine government of BJP at the Center and in the state has worked for the welfare of the poor, labourers and 24 crore people. A protective shield was provided to them, which is acceptable to the people of the state. That is why from 2014 to 2019, all the alliances have failed and BJP’s lotus blossomed.”

Uttar Pradesh will go to the polls for its 403-member assembly in seven phases on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 and 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
