Woman’s Lover Kills Her 14-Yr-Old Daughter; Later Rapes Her Dead Body In TN
Mumbai: A 44-year-old man allegedly killed the 14-year-old daughter of a woman with whom he had an affair in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore and later raped her dead body. The accused stuffed the girl’s body in a plastic sack and dumped it in bushes at a garbage site.
The crime story came to light on Thursday when sanitation workers found the girl’s body after a foul smell from the place where locals had dumped garbage. Later efforts by the police led to the arrest of the accused, identified as Muthukumar, who was living with his wife and two children in a rented house near Saravanampatti.
The minor girl’s mother had separated from her husband about eight years ago. She was reportedly in a relationship with Muthukumar. He handed over to her gold jewellery weighing 2.5 sovereign and Rs 50,000 in cash to buy her new jewellery. However, Muthukumar sold her jewellery and spent the money. The girl’s mother persistently asked him to give her ornaments back. He agreed to return them, according to an officer.
On December 11, Muthukumar visited the woman’s house. His minor daughter was the only one in the house. He called the girl to her mother and told her that she had given her the jewellery.
“He asked the girl to come home to get the jewellery and left. When the girl went to her house around 11.30 am, Muthukumar tried to rape her. When she tried to run away, he strangled her with a pillow and then strangled her with a shawl. Later, he raped her,” a report in The Times of India quoted the officer as saying.
Muthukumar then stuffed the girl’s body in a plastic bag and threw it in the dustbin in the bushes. On Monday, he along with the girl’s mother had gone to the police station to register a missing person. However, with the efforts of the police, the victim’s body was recovered from the spot. After killing the girl, he stole over 1 sovereign of gold ornaments from her house.
During interrogation, he tried to mislead the police by saying that if he handed over the gold ornaments to the girl, she would have eloped with someone. He fabricated another story that the girl’s grandmother murdered her with the help of a man with whom she [grandmother] was having a relationship. Eventually, he confessed to having killed and raped the girl.
A case under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Act) has been registered. The accused was produced in a special POCSO court and sent to jail.
