Women’s Reservation Bill Passed In Lok Sabha With 454- 2 Votes

Mumbai: The Women’s Reservation Bill, which will reserve 33% of seats for women in Lok Sabha, Delhi, and state Assemblies, has been passed in Lok Sabha. As many as 454 members favored the bill, while 2 were against it

To pass in the Lok Sabha, the measure needed two-thirds of the votes. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, previously discussed the bill and stated that it will give women the same voting rights as men in the three categories that MPs are currently elected under general, SC, and ST. After the bill was approved, the lower house voted on a number of amendments that various MPs had presented.

Shah said the bill will be implemented soon after the census and delimitation after the elections. “Census and delimitation exercises will be conducted soon after the elections, and women will have a greater voice in the Parliament,” he added.

In particular, the Lok Sabha debated the Women’s reservation Bill on Day 3 of the special session of Parliament, and the Rajya Sabha examined India’s space program with a focus on Chandrayaan-3’s successful soft landing on the moon. In the ongoing extraordinary session of Parliament, the Women’s Reservation Bill, which aims to provide a 33 percent quota for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, was tabled in the Lok Sabha yesterday and was taken up for discussion today. The Women Reservation Bill was passed by the Union Cabinet on Monday.

The Congress and the opposition parties requested that the bill be put into effect right away. They also asked that the law include OBC reservations.

Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Union Law Minister, introduced the bill during the inaugural Lok Sabha session held in the new Parliament complex on Tuesday. The Bill was introduced in the Rajya Sabha by the Manmohan Singh-led UPA administration in 2008, and it was approved in 2010. The Bill, however, was never brought up for discussion in the Lok Sabha.
