Won’t Be Surprised If Uddhav-Led Shiv Sena Hugs Hamas: Shinde

Mumbai: In front of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on Tuesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reaffirmed his government’s commitment to grant reservation to the Maratha community. He also declared that he had no desire for power because the people would support him no matter what efforts were made to remove him from office.

“They (the Thackerays) have been claiming that I will be dethroned and the government will fall ever since I became the Chief Minister,” Shinde declared during a speech at the Dussehra rally hosted by his branch of the Shiv Sena. However, with the backing of more than 200 MLAs, the government has become stronger. Since the people of Maharashtra support me, I have no ambition for power,” he declared.

The Chief Medical Officer (CM) made a plea to the people of the state to resist these efforts, stating that some authorities are occupied in inciting conflict among communities in order to remove him from office.

Asserting that he has always been and always will be a worker, Shinde questioned whether the hatred directed against him by the Thackerays stemmed from his lowly upbringing. “I was helping people on the streets when COVID struck. However, you were calculating money while relaxing at home. He remarked, “You will have to respond to the accusations of corruption in BMC.

“Despite your criticism, the people of this nation helped the NDA win in 2014 and 2019. 2024 will see nothing change. We’ll take 45 seats in the Lok Sabha. Maharashtra is firmly in support of Narendra Modi,” he said.

Uddhav Thackeray had sent two people, including Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar to convince him that he should be named the Chief Minister, Shinde said, despite the fact that he had long since concealed his true identity. He was really an opportunist, but he had adopted the persona of a guru.

Shinde’s Sena decided to hold its first Dussehra rally at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai after getting the Shiv Sena election symbol, while Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena held the rally at the traditional venue of Shivaji Park.

“I could have held the rally at Shivaji Park. But I am the head of the state and wanted to maintain peace. Last year, we held the rally at BKC. I told my people that for me any place where I can reiterate Balasaheb’s thoughts is Shivtirth for me,” said Shinde.

“I won’t be surprised if they merge with Congress,” Shinde added, criticising Thackeray for his partnership with the Congress. Rather than taking pride in their Hindu identity, they are now proud to work with the communist Congress. They’ll even work together with Owaisi. Hug Hizabul Mujahideen or Lashkar e Toiba as well.

The chief minister added that he never hesitated to give the Thackerays the money, despite their claims that they demanded Rs 50 crore in the party’s bank account after the Election Commission granted the Shinde-led group the party name and emblem.
