11 Held For Attempting To Copy A Public Servant Exam In Andheri

Mumbai: On Tuesday, 11 candidates of the staff selection exam have been arrested by the Powai police for allegedly attempting a copy in an online staff selection exam which was held at Aurum IT Park in Powai, Andheri (E). The accused were caught with a Bluetooth collar device and microphones.

The 11 public service aspirants who have been arrested have been identified as Pradeep Kumar Omprakash (26), Raju Ramniwas (20), Aman Harikesh (23), Dinesh Dalbir (25), Mohit Bijendar (20), Kushkumar Pulkumar (24), Navin Subhash Chandra (19), Sumeet Kuldeep (21), Rakesh Omprakash (23), Saurabh Subhash (21) and Navin Randhir Singh (23). All of the accused are residents of Haryana.

According to the police, the staff selection commission exam was held on Tuesday, for which around 1,870 public service aspirants had appeared. The police said that carrying any electronic device was prohibited inside the examination centre. Subsequently, students were being checked with a metal detector.

During the exam, supervisor Ketan Chavhan (29) went into Hall No. 2, in which 250 aspirants were appearing for an online examination. As per procedure, when the students were checked through a metal detector, Chavhan found 11 aspirants possessing Bluetooth collar devices and microphones in their ear, which was prohibited.

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices at University, Board and other Specified Examination Act. They were produced in an Andheri magistrate court on Wednesday and have been remanded in police custody for two days.
