13-Yr-Old Girl Dies After Drowning In Sanjay Van Lake In Delhi

Mumbai: A 13-year old girl reportedly died after drowning in the Sanjay Van lake in the Kishangarh area of Southwest Delhi on Wednesday. According to police, the deceased was sitting on the passageway over the lake when she suddenly slipped while playing and drowned.

“After receiving the information regarding the drowning of a girl at around 6:30 PM, we immediately reached the Sanjay Van Lake and called the fire services and divers to rescue the drowned girl,” said Manoj C, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kishangarh.

According to the police, the deceased, identified as Niharika, a resident of Munirka, who had gone to the lake with her friends, was declared brought dead by AIIMS Delhi.

Earlier in the day, there was news of four children from the Jaitpur area drowning while taking a bath in the Yamuna river.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
