18,125 New COVID Cases In UP, 329 More Die

Mumbai: Officials said on Wednesday that 18,125 fresh COVID-19 cases have been reported in Uttar Pradesh, which increases the number of infections to 15,63,238, while 329 new people have taken the toll to 16,372 from the pandemic.

Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said that on the bright side, the number of active cases in the state has decreased by more than 1.04 lakh in the last 11 days. He said that the COVID-19 recovery rate in Uttar Pradesh is now 85.7 per cent.

The official said that as of April 30, there were about 3.10 lakh active cases, while at present the number is 2,06,615.

With this, the total number of infected patients in the state has increased to 13,40,251.

He said that more than 4.36 crore samples have been tested in the state so far, of which more than 2.45 lakh samples have been tested on Tuesday.

In the latest cases, 1,52,725 houses are in isolation, Prasad said.

He said that following the ‘Track, Test and Treat’ policy, the monitoring team of the state government has reached 3.47 crore banks, involving a total of 16.73 crore people.

Prasad said that 1.11 crore people have been given the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 29.35 lakh has received the second shot.

The programme of vaccinating people in the 18-44 age group is also going on in the state and so far 2.16 lakh in this category have been administered vaccines, he said.
