Mumbai: The 19-year-old degree student was allegedly intoxicated and gang-raped by three men at a hotel in Hyderabad. Police said the girl was invited to a birthday party where she was fed a cake with a sedative on 5 October. Police further said that the girl was allegedly threatened that she would be killed if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
According to reports, the woman studying in Secunderabad became a friend with Joseph (20) about three months ago. On October 5, as part of Joseph’s birthday celebration, the girl met with B Naveen Reddy (22) and R Ramu (23) at Tank Bund. The girl was then taken to the Oyo-Anand in a hotel near the KPHB metro station for further ceremonies. The three men insisted that the girl should have the first piece of cake. After consuming the cake, the girl fainted and was later allegedly raped by three men. Kukatpally police say the girl was allegedly threatened that she would be killed if she exposed the incident to anyone.
The one who survived went home, however, her health deteriorated in a few days and she was admitted to the hospital. The girl informed her mother about the incident during treatment. The mother then approached the Jubilee Hills Police Station with a formal complaint.
The police handed over the case to the Kukatpally police who took three people into custody. The investigation is still on. The New Indian Express reported that police are also registering cases against the hotel where the alleged rape took place.
