Mumbai: A 24-year-old man, Naresh Soni, has been charged with the murder of Ajay Vishwakarma. The accused had beaten up Ajay mercilessly as he had been harassing his sister.
The sister had informed Naresh of the alleged harassment by Ajay. On Sunday night, the accused heard the victim say to his sister, “Mujhse Shaadi Karegi Kya (will you marry me)”, while passing their house in Ganesh Nagar.
Infuriated, Naresh started punching and kicking Ajay, who sustained several severe head injuries. Naresh fleed on the arrival of Ajay’s parents. On seeing their son like this, they rushed him to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Shatabdi hospital where they were referred to KEM hospital as his condition was unstable and very critical. He caved into his injuries on Monday and was declared dead.
The police, when informed about the assault, nabbed Naresh from the same locality and booked him under IPC section 307(attempt to murder) which was later on converted to murder on Monday.
The accused was presented before the court of law where he was remanded to Police Custody.
