Mumbai: A Japanese woman was detained by the Central Industrial Security Force(CISF) with US Dollars worth 1.24 crore at the Mumbai Airport.
According to CISF, around 9:53 pm during the security check at Terminal 2, CISF personnel detected $1.20 lakh in the hand luggage of the passenger. The accused has been identified as Marin Kataigi. On being questioned, she could not provide valid documentation for the same. Then senior CISF officials and customs officials were informed.
When the officials arrived and demanded her check-in baggage from the baggage area, around $60000 more was recovered from it.
She was then handed over to the customs officials, who took her with the $1.8 lakh as well, for further legal action.
She was supposed to fly on a Thai Airways flight to Bangkok, TG-318, which was scheduled for departure at 11:35 pm.
