31-Yr-Old Man Molests, Tries To Rape 5-Yr-Old Girl In Pune; Held
Mumbai: Pune’s Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly molesting and attempting to rape a five-year-old girl.
The arrested person has been identified as 31-year-old Sushant Rajendranath Baske, a resident of Bankura in West Bengal. The complaint was made by the child’s 24-year-old mother. The youth lives in the same area where the minor lives.
The complainant told the police that the man took the child to his room by luring him and tried to sexually abuse him by hitting him in the stomach. He also threatened to kill the complainant’s daughter. The incident took place between 3.30 pm and 4 pm on January 2 and the case was registered on Friday.
“He is in police custody for two days. The mother heard the commotion and saw what happened,” said police sub-inspector Ravindra Panhale, who is probing the matter.
A case was registered at Dehu Road police station under sections 354, 323 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code as well as section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.
